SB Live 24 bit

My son just recently purchased a dimension 3000 system and upgraded sound to SB live 24 bit advanced HD audio. Well he reformated drive after virus and now he has no sound. They never sent him a cd with the audio drivers for this card. It is multi-media audio SB0413. He has researched everything on this forum and tried several solutions but to no avail. I cannot believe this cards drivers are not on the dell website. He has the dreaded yellow asterisk next to multi-media in device manager. Any Help?

There has been a lot of this lately, and in almost every case (if you would have done a search before posting) it has turned out the Dell chipset drivers were not installed.

When doing a complete "clean" install, the first thing is the Operating system, the 2nd step is the Dell Chipset drivers and finally any other drivers and applications software.

By keying in the Service Tag number in the Product Support section you should be presented with any applicable drivers for the system.

(If you had read my post before replying), you would have seen that he has researched this forum and tried several solutions to no avail, including installing the chipset drivers first.  As I said in my post before the proper driver is not available on Dell's website.  One of the first things we did was to use the product support with his service tag #.  You are right that there has been a lot of this lately, maybe that should tell you there is a problem.

Hello, I'm the person who is having the problems with my SoundBlaster Live 24bit soundcard. I have all the chipset and operating system drivers and I have look on the Dell website and cannot find the ORIGINAL driver file/s for download. I have searched using my service tag but it seems they only updates for existing drivers and not the base driver itself. I believe it may not bet in the Dell website library and may be only available from the original SoundBlaster driver restoration CD which I do not have. So, I also searched the Creative Labs website with no luck aswell. If the download is available can you reply with a link to it for me please? My service tag is F794Y61. I would gratefully apprieciate any help you can provide . Thank you.

XP 8400 DIMENSION, SB24, Creative Diagnostics: same situation here, the CD to reload the sound apparently doesn't carry eveything we need for re-install. streaming audio LOOKS great, CD player APPEARS to be running fine, SPEAKERS FINE< NO SOUND even from the HEADPHONES.

why is this such a pain?
